What it means for your wallet
Stronger. The quiet winner survived the month: Citi to Flying Blue at 1:1.2 runs through Saturday, August 22, and still returns about 1.8 cents per point by our valuation. It has been the best open door for 2 Saturdays running, and it is again today.
Weaker. The IHG door narrowed at midnight Thursday: 1:2 became 1:1.7, and about 1.0 cent per Chase point became about 0.85. Last week’s verdict does not soften with the ratio. A priced stay or nothing.
Closing. Today only: Bilt opens a status door to Accor. A 5,000-point transfer matches Bilt Silver and Gold members into the same Accor tier for 12 months; 15,000 matches Bilt Platinum into Accor Platinum through December 2027. It shuts tonight at 11:59 PM PT. A day is not a window. It is an appointment.

The narrowed door keeps the old test. We value IHG points at 0.5¢, and IHG sells them near that price several times a year. At 1:1.7 a Chase point buys about 0.85¢ of IHG currency; the fourth-night-free lever on a co-branded IHG card lifts a 4-night stay to about 1.13¢. Both still trail the quiet Flying Blue door. The verdict that skipped the 100% skips the 70% harder: a priced stay that clears the bar, or no transfer at all.

Flights took the lead back at 33% against 28% last Saturday, as the hotel doors that pulled July indoors finished closing and the Flying Blue lane kept booking seats. Hotels eased to 25%.
