The Kaplans booked Lufthansa First twice on the T-15 sprint. Lufthansa shut the partner door on June 1.

Inside: the autopsy of the T-15 Lufthansa First sprint, the partner space that vanished on June 1, and the JAL First suite we moved the Kaplans into instead.

Munich in Lufthansa First · the T-15 partner sprint, closed since June 1

The Kaplans, a retired couple in New Jersey, came back for the move that made them believers the first time: two Lufthansa First seats to Munich, sniped in the classic T-15 sprint when Lufthansa dropped partner award space about fifteen days out and you booked it through Aeroplan or LifeMiles. On June 1, 2026, Lufthansa stopped releasing First Class to every partner program. The T-15 window still exists on paper, but it feeds no partner seats anymore, so there is no sprint to run at any mileage. So we sent them through the door that’s still open: two JAL First suites, The Suite itself, 80,000 AAdvantage miles a seat, about $6 in tax apiece and not a dollar of fuel surcharge. The $16,900 seat is the claim. When the dynamic charts came for First, the fixed partner charts, Alaska and American, are where it survived.

The insight: premium-cabin award space is a faucet only the operating airline controls. Lufthansa turned the partner faucet off on June 1, and every T-15 guide that routes through Aeroplan or LifeMiles now points at a dry tap. The mechanic, not the mileage, is what died.

VERIFIED JULY 29, 2026 · THE PARTNER DOOR TO LH FIRST IS CLOSED.
HOW WE PRICED IT
01Checked the mechanic against live award tools, not the blog. Lufthansa stopped releasing First Class to partner programs on June 1, 2026; the T-15 window that fed Aeroplan and LifeMiles produces no partner seats now.
02Priced the two First seats today. With zero partner space, the sprint that built this issue cannot be run at any mileage through Aeroplan or LifeMiles.

NOTAMS · JULY

💀 Lufthansa stopped releasing First Class to all partner programs on June 1, 2026. The T-15 sprint via Aeroplan or LifeMiles no longer produces seats. Miles & More can still book LH First; partners cannot.

🧟 The T-15 Lufthansa First sprint guides are still ranking on Google. Most predate June 1. Verify partner award space is actually releasing before you move a single mile toward it.

This issue is an honest obituary, and a real booking. The claim that anchored it died on the chart; we didn’t fake a replacement, we found the door still open and verified it live. A dead sweet spot isn’t a loss. It’s a signal to move.

THE LESSON
A booking method lives only while the airline keeps feeding it. When Lufthansa cut partner First on June 1, the T-15 sprint died with it, whatever the guides still say.
THE STRATEGY MAP · POWERED BY THE STRATEGIST
Thousands of paths. One perfect move.

Munich in First was the plan; Lufthansa closed the partner door first. We synced to their accounts the day Lufthansa shut the door, and pointed the same instinct at the First seat still open on a fixed chart.

THE FOUR FORCES, ON THEIR PORTFOLIO
01 EARN
Card routing matched to the Kaplans’ real spend. Travel and dining to the transferable rails, recalculated monthly, so the balance keeps compounding toward the next premium cabin. +52,000 pts a year.
02 BURN
Redemption timing is everything, and this month it said hold. Lufthansa cut partner First on June 1; until a living premium-cabin sprint is sourced, no miles move.
03 RETURN
Not feelings. Math. Portfolio valued monthly against real market rates: travel worth, not cashback pennies.
04 LEARN
Every move explained in the thread, so the instinct compounds. The next quirk surfaces in days, not quarters.
WHAT THE STRATEGIST ACTUALLY SAID THIS MONTH
MECHANIC DEAD · DO NOT TRANSFER
Lufthansa closed partner First on June 1. Do not transfer to Aeroplan or LifeMiles chasing the T-15 sprint; it feeds no seats now. Hold the miles and let me source a living First or business sprint worth the same to you.
THE T-15 LH FIRST SPRINT IS GONE
HONEST HOLD
Holding the counter honestly: the structure and the +$16,834 stay on the board while I spec a living redemption of equal value. Your miles are intact and liquid until it is worth moving them.
