HYATT
The Hyatt clock reads 44 days. For most wallets the right move is nothing. Here is who moves.
44 days from now, Hyatt’s award chart reprices, and the instinct everyone has is exactly backwards. The instinct: hoard points and wait to see. The math: bookings lock at today’s prices, balances don’t. Every stay you already know about, the October wedding, the December trip, wants to be a reservation before the clock runs out, not a balance watching prices climb.
🗓️ Oct 1: Preferred → 4:3 into Hyatt
🛡️ Reserve keeps 1:1 · move nothing
🔒 lock bookings, not balances
📐 mechanism 12: front-run, don’t hoard
THE CLAIM · A LOCK, NOT A HOARD
1:1 locked, for a real stay
A dated Hyatt booking · Preferred points moved for it, exactly, before the clock
One member, Preferred in wallet, autumn Hyatt stay already dated: the points for that stay, and only that stay, moved at 1:1 and the booking locked. The preserved quarter of the transfer, about 10,000 points on a 30,000-point booking, prices near $200 at our Hyatt valuation, and that is the number the counter takes, small and true. Everyone else got the other advice: a deadline is a reason to book plans, never a reason to relocate balances. Hoarded points inherit every future devaluation of their new home.
| THE BOOKING 30,000 |

WHO MOVES, WHO HOLDS · THE OCT 1 MAP
| Reserve holders ratio survives the clock | MOVE NOTHING |
| Preferred + dated Hyatt plans lock the booking at 1:1 | MOVE EXACTLY THAT |
| Preferred, no plans hoarding inherits Hyatt’s future | HOLD ✕ |
| Everyone chasing the deadline the panic-transfer season | HOLD ✕ |
The insight: devaluation clocks monetize anxiety: programs know announced deadlines move more points than bonuses do. The defense is surgical: bookings locked, balances left flexible, anxiety declined.
VERIFIED AUGUST 18, 2026 · THE OCT 1 TERMS AND BOTH CARDS’ RATIOS RE-CHECKED THIS MORNING
THE MECHANISM · 12 OF 21
Front-running without hoarding
Before any devaluation date: list dated plans in the affected program, price each in points today, move exactly those points, book, stop. No round numbers, no just-in-case toppings, no balance relocation. The preserved ratio on real bookings is pure profit; the same ratio on hoarded balances is a bet that the new home never devalues, a bet programs win by definition.
The sentence an affiliate site cannot print: deadline coverage is engineered to move balances, because moved balances are the metric the program is buying.
FOR THE HOUSEHOLD
Tonight’s move is 15 minutes with your calendar, not your points page: list the Hyatt stays you already know are coming before October 1, and lock them at current pricing while cancellation stays free. Move nothing speculatively; a clock is not an alarm.
FOR THE OPERATOR
Repricing windows are a treasury problem: balances devalue, reservations don’t. Sweep the next 2 quarters of known team stays into locked bookings before October 1. The desk’s lock list did exactly that this week, at about $200 recovered per block.

NOTAMS · AUGUST
🗓️The stack dies Saturday.Four days. Thursday and Friday’s issues are its last calls, then Monday scores it.
🛡️Reserve holders: the clock is not yours.Reading past a deadline that does not apply to you is a skill too.
🔒Preferred holders: plans, then points. If the stay has no date, the transfer has no reason.
THE LESSON
A deadline is a reason to book plans, never a reason to relocate balances. Lock stays; leave points flexible.
