This policy covers www.upnonstop.com: reading the site, subscribing to a newsletter, becoming a free or paid member, and contacting us. The First Officer advisory service at firstofficer.upnonstop.com is a separate product with its own Privacy Policy and its own Do Not Sell My Info page, which govern the data handled inside that service. Both properties are operated by UpNonStop LLC.
What we collect on this site
Newsletter and membership sign-ups. Your email address, and your name if you give it. Our site runs on Ghost, which stores this for us. If you arrive through a link that carries a source, we record where the sign-up came from.
Paid subscriptions. Payments are processed by Stripe. Card details are entered on Stripe's own forms and are held by Stripe, never by us. We receive confirmation of your subscription status. As on the First Officer side, our software does not collect or store card numbers, bank credentials or passwords.
Newsletter engagement. Our newsletters record whether an email was opened and which links were clicked, so we can see which pieces are worth writing more of. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and you can manage or cancel your subscription from the Manage subscription link on the site.
Site analytics. We use Ghost's built-in analytics, which runs on our own domain and counts visits and page views. This site does not use Google Analytics or advertising trackers.
Messages you send us. If you email us or message us on WhatsApp, we keep the conversation so we can reply and remember what we discussed.
Technical information. Our host and service providers log IP addresses, browser type and the pages requested, as any web server does.
Cookies
We use only what the site needs to work: a session cookie that keeps members signed in, and cookies Stripe sets to protect checkout against fraud. No advertising cookies, no advertising pixels, and nothing sold or shared for advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser, but signing in and paying will not work without them.
Third parties that see something when you use this site
Loading a page connects your browser to a short list of outside services, which see your IP address and the page you are on: Ghost (hosting and analytics), Stripe (payments), Google Fonts (typefaces), Unsplash (some homepage photos), and Tenor or YouTube where a post embeds one. Each has its own privacy policy. We do not hand your email address or membership details to any of them beyond what is needed to deliver the thing you asked for, and we do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
How we use what we collect
To send the newsletters and content you signed up for, run paid memberships, answer your messages, understand which writing is useful, keep the site secure, and meet legal and accounting obligations. Nothing more.
Your rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you and where it came from, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can unsubscribe from any newsletter with the link in the email, and manage or cancel a membership from the Manage subscription link on the site. Send any request to compliance@upnonstop.com from the email address on your account, say what you want, and we will verify it is you, act on it, and confirm in writing within 45 days. We will never treat you differently for exercising a privacy right. These are the same commitments made on the First Officer Do Not Sell My Info page, and they apply here too.
Where we operate
We operate from the United States and our service providers store data there. This website and its newsletters are read worldwide, so if you subscribe from outside the United States your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. We do not limit the rights above by where you live or what passport you hold: ask, and we will tell you what we hold, correct it, or delete it. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom when you subscribe, European data protection law may apply to that processing, and the same request address handles it.
How long we keep it
Membership records are kept while you have an account or subscription, and for a reasonable period afterwards for questions and for legal and accounting obligations. Newsletter engagement data sits with your membership record. Form submissions and messages are kept as long as we need them to answer you and remember the conversation. Ask us to delete and we will, keeping only what the law requires and telling you what that is.
Children
This site is for adults. Our Terms require users to be at least 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
Changes get posted here with a new date at the top. If a change is significant, members hear about it by email.
